How You Make Money and How Much

For all accepted items, commissions are paid from the sale price as follows:

At ReFine, we are known for selling top-quality NEW clothing, shoes and handbags in only the very best condition.  We only accept NWT (new with tags) items and NWOT (new without tags) or New-ish items in perfect or near perfect condition.  We accept items that are re-sellable at $30 or more in our markets.

If your item sells for $99 or less, you receive 30% of the sale 

If your item sells for $100-$499, you receive 40% of the sale 

If your item sells for $500-$4999, you receive 50% of the sale

If your item sells for $5,000 or more, you receive 60% of the sale

Clients are paid out by check or Zelle once monthly, or within 48 hours if requested.

There is never a charge to you if we don't sell your items.  No risk!  We take on all expenses, listing fees, sales fees and the cost and time to take pictures and post your items or to sell them during a live show!

You come to us or we come to you!

How to Get Started or Add Items for Consignment

The first step is for you to go through your closet (garage, storage) and take an honest look at your wardrobe.  Discover the items of value that are not serving you--like sizes that don't fit you or items you bought but have never worn.  Ensure these things are New (with or without tags) and in excellent condition.  Once you have done this you're ready to get started with ReFine!

ReFine sells only the best so we can be pretty picky about what we accept.

Categories we Accept:

Clothing (Dresses, tops, sweaters, blouses, blazers, brand-name jeans, pants, skirts, jackets and coats [no real fur], ski-wear and others)

Shoes/Footwear (Pumps, sandals, platform shoes, flats, sneakers, booties, boots and others)

Handbags and Accessories (Shoulder bags, totes, hobo bags, clutches, crossbody bags, backpacks, caps and hats, belts and others)

Beauty/Beauty Tools/Miscellaneous  (Higher-end unopened/unused makeup, unopened fragrances, new flat or curling irons, hair dryers, headbands and others)

2 Exceptions to these guidelines:    We also may accept higher-dollar pre-owned items if they are in-demand.  We only accept shoes or boots that are brand new and unworn, we do not sell worn shoes.

Intake Appointment

Intake is the process of our determining the items to be consigned, agreeing to the process and setting minimum acceptable sale prices.  This process can happen in one of 3 ways:

  1. You make an appointment to bring your items to our location in Running Springs

  2. You arrange an appointment for one of our intake stylists to come to your home (local only)

  3. In certain instances, we can handle your intake via Zoom-type video conference, then we can arrange paid pick up and delivery to our location

We Do Our Job

Your items begin our setup process to get them online to the marketplaces we sell from

  • Your items are prepped for pictures

  • Professional, well-lit photographs of your items are taken, edited and watermarked

  • Measurements and other important details of your items are recorded to be listed online

  • Sales research is performed to properly price your items for the current market

  • Your items are cross-listed to all of the marketplaces we sell through

Selling takes place through online listings where people can purchase or make offers on your items​, or through live-stream shows through one of several apps.

Closing the Sale

Every effort is made to sell your items--its the only way either one of us makes any money!  After a period of time, your items may be put on "sale" or auctioned if you so chose at Intake, or you can opt to have your items returned to you if they don't sell.

Once your item sells, you earn your commission based on the payout table above!  You can be paid via bank check or through Zelle.

ReFine handles the packaging, shipping and tracking of your sold items to their new home.
